ARC Foundation Welcomes Arleen Chuang as Chair of the Board

The Board of Directors of ARC Foundation (ARC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Arleen Chuang as the new Chair of the Board, confirmed at the recent Annual General Meeting.

Arleen joined ARC’s Board of Directors in October 2021, and will succeed Scott Graham, who will be stepping down from the Board of Directors after five years as a Director, including four years as Board Chair.  The Board of Directors thanked Scott for his service, including his strategic leadership through a period of growth and adaptation for the organization and its work.

“I look forward to stepping into the role of Board Chair at a time when ARC Foundation’s work is supporting educators in such a meaningful way,” shared Chuang. “I’m grateful to Scott and the leadership he’s provided during his time as Board Chair. The SOGI Educator Network has grown over the last four years, now including educators in Yukon Territory and across Atlantic Canada, in addition to those in BC and the Prairies.”

“It has been a privilege to serve on ARC Foundation’s Board of Directors, and I’m pleased that Arleen will be taking over the role of Chair”, said Graham. “She brings a deep understanding of the work of SOGI 123 and a passion for creating safer and more inclusive schools for students and families. We know that SOGI 123 works, and I look forward to seeing the strength of the organization continue to grow.”

Arleen attended an inclusive and supportive liberal arts college, where she was able to explore her intersectionality as a queer immigrant woman of color. With that experience in mind, she is passionate about working to fulfill ARC Foundation’s vision of a world where children and youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities can live authentic lives. Arleen has an academic background in educational administration, policy, and student recruitment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College and a Master of Science Education from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to her role as Board Chair, Arleen served on the Board Executive as Treasurer.
