Canadian Government funds ARC Foundation’s SOGI-inclusive education

VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Canadian government, through the Department of Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), under Minister Marci Ien, has awarded $396,497 to ARC Foundation (ARC) to support the national adaptation of SOGI 1 2 3.  SOGI 1 2 3 expands the capacity of K-12 teachers to create Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI)-inclusive schools for all students.

“This funding will help us expand the work we do through SOGI 1 2 3 to help make all schools inclusive places where students feel safe, accepted, respected and welcome,” says ARC Foundation’s Executive Director, Reg Krake. “We are very pleased that the federal government recognizes the work we do and wants to support it through this financial contribution.”

The contribution will help ARC complete environmental scans of new regions, design and pilot delivery of SOGI 1 2 3 in French, create digital tools and assets to support educators who have varying levels of funding and support, and evaluate the impact of the project.

The funding will be provided through the Department for Women and Gender Equality over two years beginning immediately.
